Well, it sorta makes sense from Coco’s point of view.
The whole, “teach a man to fish” thing.
If he just wished to rescue their humans, then he won’t learn how to do it properly the next time it happens. If he instead wishes to be better able to rescue his humans, then he can do it easier now and on subsequent occasions that their humans go missing.
See, there’s logic to it. Coco logic to be sure, but still…
