Stealth Challenged

When my friends and I were playtesting some the 4e D&D material for WotC, I distinctly recall coming across the Inspire Competence bardic power and thought it was…interesting.

Back in 3e, the bardic equivalent required a verbal component that must be sung which sort of negated the point of using it to boost another character’s Move Silent skill.

We saw that in the 4e version there is no limitation on using it for stealth.  But at least it was a spell now and didn’t require constant singing so using it to boost stealth could at least be excused.

Then we saw Hunter’s Tune.  A song that boosted another character’s stealth check.  And yes, this one required the Bard to maintain the “tune”.  It was a laugh out loud moment when we saw it.

Why, that is totally reasonable: while the bard is singing, he draws all the attention, so the others can have a higher chance to go unnoticed ;D

Coco turns into a literal “fly on the wall” becomes the stealthiest one of them all.
