I’ve had several conversations with people recently about the topic of Talent vs. Practice.  Is talent something inborn, that it’s a fact that some people are just naturally talented at something?  Or does practice make perfect and we can learn anything we want to if we just practice constantly and work hard at it?

This youtube video by Howard Tayler has really been an inspiration to me.

Growing up, I was never the artistically talented one.  That was my older brother.  He was quite good at drawing realistic human figures even when we were very little.  Sure, I was often cited as being creative or talented in other areas, but drawing, painting, and art in general was not one of them (though I do throw a pretty good clay pot if I do say so myself).

As I start this new creative endeavor, this video has given me even more confidence that my art will improve with practice.  I’m not satisfied with my current drawing or storytelling style.  But I’m rather excited to think that 10 years down the line, I might someday be as “talented” as some of the cartoonists I admire now.

Welcome!  It is the first Monday of March and the inaugural first strip.

Please excuse the site.  I’m still in the middle of fixing things.  If there’s a feature that you would like to see or recommendations about anything else, please let me know.

The current plan is to have the strip update 5 days a week for the entire month of March in order to build an archive.  After that, the strip will update twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays.  However, I’ll be increasing the frequency of updates depending on the size of the audience.  The more people reading the strip, the better I feel about taking time from other projects and devoting more effort to it.
