I recently saw a thread over on the Order of the Stick forums that read like a reader asking for help in an advice column.
Dear Coco,
I’m a thrill-seeking chaotic neutral elf thief that’s always looking fun. Sure, I steal and cause trouble, but I’m just acting out my alignment.
Recently, some of that fun has led to my arrest and now I’m in prison. I was expecting the rest of the party to come rescue me (or at least visit) but instead they left the city and continued adventuring without me.
Are they trying to tell me something, or do you think they’re just killing and looting monsters so they can raise the bail money?

Your party left you.
You probably caused a bar fight or stole/hid loot from them one too many times. They’re probably looking for a new guy that’s less trouble, like a beholder with a staring problem or a gassy skunkman.
You should take up knitting. You’ll be sitting in prison for a long time. Maybe stonecarving or scrimshaw.
No. They’re not coming back.
