Toad the Wet Sprocket

I was listening to some random songs on pandora.com (great music site, by the way) and came across some guy named Glen Phillips. Amazing singer. The music he sang reminded me of one of my favorite bands from my college years, Toad the Wet Sprocket.

I told one of my friends about him, somewhat smugly, because for once I was the one to discover a relatively unknown singer (he’s usually the one pointing out interesting new artists to me). Alas, he quickly riposted my musical one-upmanship by saying “Cedric, Glen Phillips was the lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket.”

Sigh. See, this is why I always lose out on Trivial Pursuit. I have a hard time remembering the names of singers and actors, even if I like their work. Oftentimes, I would quickly gather all the other wedges (sometimes in only one or two turns)…but that elusive Arts and Leisure wedge always stays out of reach.

Apparently, they haven’t technically reunited…but they’re having a reunion tour all summer.

Umm…a reader called my attention to the fact that strudel is not spelled strudle. It’s been corrected. Thanks :)

I once had a gf in Michigan who, when I was visiting her one winter, talked me into a Star Wars Trivia Pursuit tourny.

Moral of the story, when visiting a gf in another state make sure you loss the title round to her. On the other hand, the trophy was cute. I think its in storage somewhere.

Bah! No quarter! Mercy is for the foolish. :)

no, the correct quote is “Mercy is for the Weak. And we do not train to be weak Here!”
