It’s sometimes hard to empathize with people that have experiences and circumstances so different from your own. Toad has a hard time figuring out why Coco is depressed that he can’t shift anymore. Coco has been shifting for so long that he takes it for granted.
Now, he can’t change shape and has to adjust. Shift happens. Or doesn’t in this case.
